I work with wood for its natural beauty, its impressionable quality and the organic connection that all living things share.
By creating highly textured surfaces combined with polished smooth surfaces, I hope to draw out people’s natural desire to touch and experience the work.
Texture has always guided my work, which has led me to experiment with a variety of non-traditional materials including leather, hair, metal, glass and found objects. This process of mixed mediums allowed my work to expand from functional wood turned objects to include a sculptural-object phase that takes the wood from the table to the wall.
My work has been featured at Ontario Craft Council’s “Made of Wood Show”; Allsorts Gallery, Hamilton; Circle Art, Tobermory. It can also be seen in numerous private collections throughout Canada and the United States, including the Hamilton International Airport.
